My sculpture interprets universal human form. There is an increasing interest in my life size willow works cast in bronze for private outdoor installations and public spaces.
The work in willow and bronze as well as the smaller works in woven wirecloth reflect my observation of human posture and attitude. Some are sober, reflective; and others are exuberant and colorful. Since moving here, I have worked with the wild willow on or near the property, as it reflects what I believe is the beauty of human frailty.
After 40 years in Dartmouth, I moved and married in Little Harbour, Pictou County 15 years ago. My ‘new’ studio is a 180 year old house on the property owned by my husband. In restoring the building as a studio, we made the discovery that the house had been built by my great great great grandfather!
I have missed the Halifax area and I welcome the presence of my work in this major new Gallery on Halifax’s waterfront: The Prow.
