Artist Bio

Angie Reid is a fine artist and oil painter based in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. Her work often captures the landscapes of Nova Scotia's Northumberland Strait and Annapolis Valley, with occasional explorations into still life. Inspired by Atlantic Canadian realist artists such as Mary and Christopher Pratt and Alex Colville, Angie's paintings reflect her deep connection to the region.

Born in Whitehorse, Yukon and raised in Nova Scotia, Angie began exploring oil painting as a child with her grandmother, but stepped away from her art practice in her young adult life to focus on a career as a marketing strategist. She returned to painting in her 30s as a creative escape from a demanding job, reigniting her interest in the medium.

In 2021, she decided to pursue a lifelong dream of earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts at NSCAD University, graduating with honours in 2024. She was also shortlisted for valedictorian and received the Arthur Lismer Award for Academic Excellence.

Alongside her BFA, Angie holds a Bachelor of Public Relations from Mount Saint Vincent University and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Art History from Acadia University. She is an active contributor to the local arts community, currently serving on the boards of Visual Arts Nova Scotia (VANS) and the Craig Gallery Steering Committee.
