The HMCS SODAR sported a state of the art sonar ring on her midship tower and so excited about this breakthrough design the design team chose SONAR as the original name. However military intelligence stepped in and changed it to SODAR just before launch to not make it an obvious target to opposing forces . Regardless of these cautions it was a deep fryer fire in the galley that took her out of operations.
