The Nature Drum

    This drum titled: "The Nature Drum" symbolizes our connection to the land and nature through the connectedness of the green Mi''kmaq Double Curve Designs. It is believed that the double curve represents our life cycle. The curve on the left represents birth, the centre middle age, and the curve on the right represents becoming a senior or an Elder. The decorative centre symbolizes the prime of our lives. Others believe that the curves represent different medicinal plants, and the shape of ancient Mi'kmaq Birch Bark Canoes. I believe that all three are linked together in a very sacred and meaningful way.

     The Mi’kmaq Star is an ancient petroglyph(carving in stone) which displays ‘Mi’kmaq Pride’ and unity amongst all the cultures of the world through the medicine wheel colours. 

    All the designs in this drum show that we are all connected through our love of land, nature and the ocean.
