HDMS Elsinore - Despite the ominous reference to the castle in the play Hamlet that represented self-imposed imprisonment, the crew of the ELSINORE were happy Danes that were ready for anything and eager to hit the high seas.! The sub was strafed by enemy aircraft in the Battle of the Atlantic and drifted without power or navigation for 48 days until finally running aground on a sand bar off the coast of Cape Breton. All were saved and celebrated with open faced shrimp sandwiches.
