The THRUMMER was a tiny submersible with a displacement of a mere 10 cubic metres. Designed for solo operation, her main military objective was to use bow-mounted pummel drivers to create a thrumming sound similar to that of diesel-powered battle submarines, thereby luring depth-charge boats far off course.
