The ORKNEY was a mix of frugal Scottish submarine design that can be seen in the
various retrofits. From bow to stern several decades of new ideas can be found from
wooden fin rudders, to iron conning tower. “Aye we can fix er up noot
but ya say!” was always said when new plans were un-rolled.
