With a width of only 6 feet, the SLIMJIM was a terror to be posted aboard. Always
cramped and quite at the mercy of rough seas, crews would often wedge themselves
upright with many pillows to avoid being thrown against the hull walls. She was retired
from service when an enemy round went clean through the hull just above the waterline,
as evidenced by the hole midship.
