HMCS Finial

the FINIAL was an ill-fated submersible inspired by the ornate lampshades her designer had admired during a visit to Turkey. Its bow, shaped in elegant undulating curves, echoed the intricate finials of Ottoman decor — beautiful, but utterly impractical. The design created considerable drag, severely limiting her speed and maneuverability. As a result, the FINIAL proved an easy target for faster, more efficient enemy vessels — most notably the massive German LOODVIG.
