HMCS BOBBYTOP Perhaps the only yellow submarine in the fleet the BOBBYTOP was so named because of her helmet shaped conning tower and bow heavy with sampling cones that resembled nightsticks. Often chuckled at as “designer fru” the yellow was not popular. The most striking feature was its helmet-shaped conning tower, rising proudly above the surface while the rest of the vessel was underwater. . This tower, reminiscent of both a buoy and the iconic helmet of London’s bobbies, served as a practical hub for observation and navigation. Its spacious interior accommodates advanced navigation equipment and provides commanding views of the surrounding seas.
