Linen is a traditional European painting surface favoured by the master, usually covered over with ground and paint. I liked to allow the fabric show through, as a bird weaves in and out of a Chinese cloisonne patterning used on vases, as my contemporary take on the Chinese genre Bird and Flower paintings. The red arrow references a bird migration pattern I found on a map.
